Education
Kent
Police Museum offers a range of activities for schools, including
talks, handling sessions and a loan box service. We are able to
deliver to all age ranges and abilities, and will adapt and tailor
activities to best meet your requirements. All sessions fit the
National Curriculum.
All activities are currently free.
Talks
A member of staff can come into school to talk to classes on a
variety of topics. We tailor our talks to your requirements, so
please contact us for details. Topics range from crime and punishment
in the past to the issues facing the police and public today, such
as surveillance and crime.
Handling
The museum has an extensive handling collection that includes uniform,
equipment and photographs. Students can handle the objects and use
them to explore policing and crime in the past and present.
Loan boxes
The museum has 5 loan boxes for use in schools and by groups. Each
box contains handling items and suggestions for activities. The
topics covered are Victorian Police, Identity, Communication, Light
and Dark, and Protection. Each box is aimed at KS 1 and 2, but can
be easily adapted for KS 3 - 4. The boxes can be borrowed from the
museum, or a member of museum staff can use them with your class
or group.
SEN
We are very happy to work with SEN students, and will either tailor
any activity to meet your students' needs, or create new activities
where necessary.
Visits to the museum
We welcome group visits to the museum; however, the museum is very
small and we can only accommodate small groups, but we will do our
very best to be flexible with numbers.
Contact
Please contact Anna Derham on 01634 403260 or 07807 340284 for
details on activities, or to discuss your particular requirements.
